We are currently developing the first ecovillage above the Arctic Circle. This sounds harder then it is, because we are living on the island of Vestvågøy on Lofoten. Lofoten is a large island archipelago in the province Nordland in Norway. The island is located in a shallow place and the climate has huge benefits of the gulf-stream.
Our aim is to build an Eco friendly village where about 100 people (60 grown ups and 40 children)will live and work. We live on a hilly terrain of about 66000 m2, alongside a fjord. We have a beach-line and a marina for small fishing boats. On the terrain are 2 forests, some plough-land to grow herbs and vegetables as well as grazing lands for small cattle and horses.
